Full Moon in Leo with Lunar Eclipse, January 20, 2019

Full Moon in Leo

January 20, 2019 at 11:17 pm CT

This is a Super Moon, so named because it is occurs at the time when the Moon is at its closest point to the Earth, otherwise known as the epigee.

There is also a complete lunar eclipse with this Full Moon, that will be visible across most of the US.  Check out this link for the best views:  https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/lunar/2019-january-21

This Moon has many names.  It is called a Blood Moon because it will turn a rusty red color during the eclipse.  It is also called the Wolf Moon because the first Full Moon of the year is named after howling wolves.  Check this out for more:  https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/wolf.html and https://www.space.com/42830-supermoon-blood-moon-total-lunar-eclipse-2019.html

This Full Moon comes on the same day that the Sun moves into the sign of Aquarius (at 2:59 am CT on January 20th.)

Enjoy the Lunar Eclipse!

New Moon in Capricorn – Jan. 5, 2019

On January 5th, at 7:29 pm CT, we will have a New Moon in Capricorn.  A New Moon happens when the Sun and Moon are in the same sign, and at the same degree.

Capricorn, being a Cardinal sign, is concerned with responsibility, structure, obedience, wisdom, etc.  People with a lot of Cardinal energy in their horoscope are likely to be the ones who “get the party started.”  Cardinal energy initiates action.

Beginning the new year with a Cardinal New Moon starts it off with the energy to accomplish great things.  Check your list of projects for priorities!  Organize and develop a plan to complete these projects.  By years’ end and Capricorn’s return, you will have much to celebrate!

To be fully prepared for the year ahead, contact me for a Solar Return reading, or an interpretation of your natal horoscope.  I also read natal charts to advise you on career choices that suit your personality.  I can be reached via email at marsha.massino@gmail.com or contact me via my Facebook page:  Astrology By Marsha.

Sagittarius Sun & Full Moon – 11/22/2018

On Thanksgiving Day in the USA, we will welcome the Sun in Sagittarius at 3:01 am CT, followed by a Full Moon in Gemini at 11:40 pm the same day!

This will make for very chatty social gatherings in celebration of Thanksgiving.  We should enjoy pleasant conversations, packed with information.  Both Gemini and Sagittarius appreciate being recognized for their wealth of knowledge.  They are also well known for being “social butterflies”.  Don’t try to keep them cooped up at home with no outlets for communication!

I hope you enjoy your time with friends and relatives.  The busy holiday season is just beginning!

Moon signs in astrology

It is quite common for us to know our Sun sign without being an astrologer.  However, it is not true that everyone knows the sign of the Moon at their birth.

The Moon moves through all 12 signs of the zodiac every month, taking approximately two and a half days to move through each sign, which is the fastest transit time of any of the planets.

In order to determine your Moon sign an astrologer needs your date, time and place of birth.  If the exact time is unknown, an astrologer may be able to tell you the sign of your Moon.  Since the Moon moves so quickly, it may have changed signs on the day you were born.

You can look up your natal chart on www.astro.com.  Enter your information (time, place and date) and you can generate a chart, or you can ask an astrologer to calculate your chart for you.

Your Moon sign is almost as important as your Sun sign.  While the Sun sign indicates your energy, the Moon sign reveals your needs.

For example, a Moon in Cancer native has a for emotional security, while a Moon in Taurus has a need to preserve their security and will need to ensure that security before making changes.  In other words, before a person with a Taurus Moon makes the decision to buy a new home they must be absolutely sure they aren’t risking too much.  Can they afford the new house payment, or will they be happy in a new location?  Is this the right choice?

Contact me at marsha.massino@gmail.com if you would like to find out more about your natal chart.  I provide natal chart readings, career advice readings and yearly birthday readings to give you the outlook for the year ahead.

Fall Equinox – 9/22/18 at 8:54 pm CDT

Today at 8:54 pm CDT, the Sun will move into Libra, which marks the start of Fall.

Libra concerns itself with beauty, balance and love!  As in the Spring, (ushered in by the Sun’s movement into Aries), singles are often tempted to find a partner.

The cooler temperatures make it especially nice and inviting to cuddle up with a mate and warm yourself up with a nice cup of steaming coffee in front of the fireplace.  This morning in my part of the world (Madison, Wisconsin) it is especially cool with the temperature at a brisk 46 degrees.

The Moon is in Pisces at the Equinox, which may bring feelings of needing to escape from whatever pressures you are dealing with.  Focus on what is good and positive in your life instead of the negative.  Suggestions to help you move out of a funky mood:  take a walk, meditate, join a friend for dinner, enjoy uplifting music or “dance it out”.

New Moon in Virgo – Sept. 9, 2018

The New Moon in Virgo is exact at 1:02 pm CT on 9/9/2018.

Earth, Earth, Earth.  There are seven planets in Earth signs at this New Moon!  Wow!  No Fire and no Air energy.  If you’re feeling a bit sluggish and you find it difficult to concentrate, it might be due to the lack of Fire and Air in today’s chart.

To revive these energies, light candles and read to a child.  You could also light a fire in the fireplace and work on a crossword puzzle.  Think of other ways to surround yourself with the fire and air energy in an effort to create an energetic balance.

Perhaps you are feeling the stirrings of a sultry, sensual mood with a sudden urge to follow your passion.

It is also likely that you are driven to help others, a sensitivity so compelling that you can’t stop thinking about it.

The New Moon in Virgo is a great time to start a diet.  You will be supported in your efforts to improve your health!  Go for it!  I wish you much success!

Earth Grand Trine – August 25, 2018

Today we have an Earth Grand Trine.  It is formed between the Virgo Sun, Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus.

An Earth Grand Trine is a self-contained focus of energy of self-sufficiency.

People with this configuration in their natal chart are quite likely to feel that they get along quite nicely on their own, not needing anyone’s help. Their defining statement could be: “I know how to do everything and I don’t need your helpI”

Notice how you feel today.  If you lack Earth in your natal chart, you may often feel that you are not “grounded”.  If this is true for you, go outside barefoot and bask in the sunshine while walking through the grass.  Really get down with Mother Nature.  Plug in to the music on your phone and have a dance party.  See how refreshed you feel!

If you have a birthday in the next few months and want to know what’s coming up for you over the next year, contact me for a reading of your Solar Return.

Solar Return refers to the day and time that the Sun returns to the same degree it was at the time of your birth.

I do these readings for $80.  I have clients who tell me they carry their reading with them and consult it often.  (I supply you with a summary of the reading, so you can keep it on your phone, or print it out and carry in your purse.)

If interested in a Solar Return reading, contact me at AstrologyByMarsha@gmail.com  I would love to do a reading for you – or you can book one as a birthday gift for someone special.
