Full Moon in Leo

January 20, 2019 at 11:17 pm CT

This is a Super Moon, so named because it is occurs at the time when the Moon is at its closest point to the Earth, otherwise known as the epigee.

There is also a complete lunar eclipse with this Full Moon, that will be visible across most of the US.  Check out this link for the best views:  https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/lunar/2019-january-21

This Moon has many names.  It is called a Blood Moon because it will turn a rusty red color during the eclipse.  It is also called the Wolf Moon because the first Full Moon of the year is named after howling wolves.  Check this out for more:  https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/wolf.html and https://www.space.com/42830-supermoon-blood-moon-total-lunar-eclipse-2019.html

This Full Moon comes on the same day that the Sun moves into the sign of Aquarius (at 2:59 am CT on January 20th.)

Enjoy the Lunar Eclipse!
