The Summer Solstice is on June 20, 2020, at 4:44 p.m. CDT, which is the time that the Sun moves to 0 Cancer.

The Solar Eclipse occurs at 1:40 a.m., CDT on June 21st at 0 Cancer. This eclipse will be visible in parts of Africa and Asia.

The next day, June 21st, at 1:42 a.m. CDT, is the New Moon, when the Sun and Moon are both at 0 Cancer.

What I first noticed about this New Moon is that 5 out of 10 planets are in a Water sign (Sun, Moon, Mars, Neptune and Mercury) and 0 planets are in a Fire sign.  So much feeling, yet lacking inspiration to move out of the emotions.

Mercury turned retrograde on June 17th, and joins four other planets that are currently retrograde (Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto).  All of this retrograde motion asks us to engage in a review of what has brought us to this point in time.

Five out of 10 planets are in the Cardinal signs of Cancer and Capricorn.  So, while we are not inspired by Fire planets, we are encouraged to get things done by the bountiful energy of the Cardinal signs.  This is also echoed by the fact that the four angles of the chart are also ruled by the four Cardinal signs.

In essence then, to feel and to do — these are the energies of the New Moon.

Feelings are running quite high these days with the tension we’ve all been under with the Covid-19 pandemic.  Some of us are rebelling at the restrictions on activity, requirement to wear a face mask, loss of income, inability to attend large gatherings, social isolation, etc.  Some of us are content to wait out the spread of the virus, hoping that we can hold out until a cure is discovered.

My hope is that you find comfort in your home and family.  I hope your home is your safe place in the world, because I know that’s not true for everyone.  I hope your family means love to you, because I know that’s also not true for everyone.  If neither of these is true for you, I hope you have a place and people who love you and provide you with a safe place to land.
